From the Pit to the Pinnacle – Dr. Paul Dhinakaran
My precious friend, God is setting you on a strong foundation, the rock and is adorning you with honour. He will confirm His promises with signs, wonders and miracles. Therefore, take comfort in today’s promise, which is from Psalm 40:2, “He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; He set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand.”
The Tamil Bible states, “He lifted me up out of the DEEP PIT,” and the Psalmist adds, “He lifted me up out of the slimy, muddy pit which was trying to devour me.” This happened to Joseph and Jeremiah in the Bible. Joseph’s brothers threw him into a deep, slimy pit because they were angry with his prophetic utterance about the future. They wanted him to die and, with him, his dreams as well. But God made arrangements for him to be rescued from that “deep, slimy pit” by His power. Similarly, Jeremiah warned the king and the people of Jerusalem to turn to the Lord and avoid worshipping the wickedness of the world. He said, “If you do not turn to the Lord, the enemy king of Babylon will come and take you as slaves.” But they hated him for revealing God’s plan to righteousness. They threw him into a muddy well filled with mire to die, but God pulled him out by His power and protected Jeremiah, thus fulfilling His promise to him.
Likewise, God will bless you for enduring hardships for the sake of Jesus. As a reward, He will bestow upon you the gifts of the Spirit, enabling you to interpret dreams and see visions. Just as He fulfilled His promises and prophecies for Jeremiah, He will do the same for you. Even when the king of Babylon captured the king of Jerusalem, God guided Jeremiah’s steps and protected him from harm. Similarly, you, too, will be recognised for your dedication to spreading Christ’s message to the world and your loved ones, even in the face of adversity. Remember, people may get angry when you share God’s vision for the future, but God will sustain you and establish you on a solid foundation, the rock.
PRAYER:
Loving Lord, I want to thank You for Your beautiful promise. As Your child, I put my complete trust in You and declare, “Even though I may fall and sit in darkness, You, Lord, will be my light and will make me rise.” Thank You for always being with me and never casting me away. I believe that You will pull me out of my deep troubles and set my feet on solid ground. I pray that You will bless me with honour and spiritual gifts and allow me to shine brighter for Your glory in the days to come. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
